- Nominee must be an academic or an appointed (non-elected) public official to
be eligible. Elected public officials are ineligible.
- The innovative idea for which the candidate is being nominated is limited to U.S.
regulatory schemes.
- The innovative idea for which the candidate is being nominated must have been introduced,
published or written about in the 2009 calendar year.
- The innovative idea need not have been effected or implemented.
- Self-nominations are welcome.
- There is no fee or charge to nominate.
- The completed nomination form must be submitted by February 19, 2010.
An independent committee including academics and business leaders will consider
and evaluate the nominees. The committee consults with representatives of the Burton
Foundation as part of the selection process.
